In a stroke of serendipity I found myself on a Wednesday morning farm tour at the Los Poblanos Inn https://lospoblanos.com/about/los-poblanos. I needed to make the trip to Albuquerque and decided this was my chance to see the inn. And to go on the farm tour! For a long time photos of the inn that appear in the local Edible Magazine have intrigued me. So, the restaurant at Los Poblanos Inn is high on my list of places I’m dying to have a meal! For today, though, I am just having a look and going on the farm tour.
Cottonwoods and Lavender Fields
In the hour and a half that I was at the inn, we walked through lavender fields and herb gardens. We crossed the long picturesque lane covered with cottonwoods which is the entrance to Los Poblanos. On the other side were more blue skies and sunny fields with varieties of vegetable fields and greenhouses. We continued along paths that took us to the original Territorial buildings surrounded by flower gardens and fruit trees. They also have architectural tours of these old, very beautiful buildings in bucolic settings. We came full circle to the original farm buildings and the farm store.
We passed a lotus pond. Wes, our guide, mentioned that they might possibly be good for stuffing. (Kitchen, though, is not sure if they are edible). He said kitchen are willing to try all kinds of new fruits and veggies for the menu. But stuffed lotus fronds has never appeared.
Lotus Pond....Are They Edible?
Then we were full swing back to the reception area for the inn and guests. It was an entirely laid back tour. A nice way to start my day in Albuquerque before I set off for less idyllic errands. There is one thing I didn’t do. Look forward to a post entirely dedicated to the restaurant. I am definitely going back.
