Road To Suchness

Las Vegas…..Food Heaven

We were in food heaven on all three days we spent in Las Vegas.  The first night we headed out for dinner at Best Friend.  The following afternoon we had a leisurely lunch at Sadelle’s.  The third restaurant, Eatally, we found by chance in a large, fun area at one end of our hotel, Park MGM.  These three “food heaven” restaurants in Las Vegas were in total contrast to each other.  You would think that in a group of three there would be one that disappointed.  But no, they were all so different and all so good, I couldn’t name a favorite.  Check out below:

Best Friend

Best Friend is a Korean restaurant nestled into a corner of the first floor of the Park MGM Hotel. Don’t be dissuaded by the entrance which is not the actual dining area. But it is nice to sit there and wait for the hostess to escort you in or have a drink while you are waiting. You will walk through some long thick pinkish plastic streamers and come out onto a different setting all together. You are suddenly in another more intimate world.

Roy Choi is one of the founders of the gourmet food truck movement. His first truck was a Korean/Mexican taco truck. The combination sounds delicious. And so was the food we ate.  Check it out below:

Sadelle's

Our last day in Vegas we ate a late lunch at Sadelle’s and were so full we really didn’t need much for the rest of the day.  Sadelle’s is a transplant to Las Vegas from New York that serves fresh bagels, smoked salmon and all the other specials you would expect in a New York deli. Located in the Hotel Belaggio, it’s been given that Las Vegas twist. Slip back into a coral colored booth or sit with a view to the pool in a lavender chair. Come for brunch hungry and definitely come with no hurry.

Eataly

Great way to start the day and equally great way to end it. Here are some Las Vegas restaurants so good and varied you could spend the whole day in here. It was so nice to discover Eataly on our first morning in Las Vegas. Michael came through the doors on his way back from his early morning walk and taking photos and what a good thing. Starbucks, which is in the center of the hotel, had a line a mile long. Eataly, on the other hand, offered good coffee and so many pastries it was hard to make up your mind. Best of all, things were still quiet so you could sit down and take your time.

So we ended up having breakfast in the mornings in Eataly and an evening of people watching as we sat with our glass of wine and Italian food made on site.  Loved it!

One of the reasons traveling is something to look forward to is try new foods.  But also to leave your own kitchen behind and have someone else cook up something new.  It’s a time to relax for an evening. Las Vegas lives up to that promise.  For the three days  we felt like we were in Food Heaven in Las Vegas!
