Road To Suchness

Las Vegas….I’m in Las Vegas!

So what am I doing in Las Vegas? Except for a few local lottery tickets I buy a couple times a month, I have never been drawn to gambling. Except for a love of wine and my newly acquired love of Cuban mojitos, I don’t drink. The strange truth is this: when we got back from Cuba I decided that the next vacation I would go on would be to a (quasi) lux hotel with a really comfortable bed that I would not get out of until late in the morning.

This is not my usual prerequisite when planning a trip. But more and more I am leaning to that plush bed when choosing a place to rest my head. So when Michael showed me photos of where he would be staying in Las Vegas, I thought, “This is it”. Besides, winter had been lingering on. And on. We were all getting cabin fever. It would be nice to exchange snow and cold winds for some warmer days. My purpose there would be to work on some writing.  Therefore, I’d be able to see the nice weather from the window of my acclimatized room and soft bed.

But the thing is that Las Vegas once again got the best of me. I found myself laughing a lot.  Even my sluggish body was suddenly wide awake when I got out of the elevators in the morning. I would be hit by the boom boom, let’s gamble music and I would start bopping right along. I would rate the overall three day stay as a ten star experience. Even if you don’t gamble, drink or misbehave, there are still so many happy things to do:

Take a Morning Run

Start your day with an early morning run. The idea for Michael was to get out really early and get the best photographs of Las Vegas with that morning light. It doesn’t matter if it is for a run or photographs, you’ll have the whole city to yourself. Everyone else (including me) is still in bed.

Did I Mention the Food?

There is not enough room here to write about all the over the top great food we had in Las Vegas.  Check out my food post on three places I felt fortunate to find.  And they are all so different, giving us a round of culinary experiences.  Check it out here: https://roadtosuchness.comlas-vegas-restaurants/

Dance to Your Own Beat

In the end, although I doubted my sanity for deciding to go, I had such a great time in Las Vegas. These are a few of the things we did, a little laid back, but happy. We didn’t do any night shows or spend time at the Spas which are other fun options. We danced to our own beat…everybody does Las Vegas in their own way. And, at least once in their lives, everybody deserves a great time in Vegas.
