I was totally unprepared for Miami and the Wynwood Walls. https://thewynwoodwalls.com/. And in addition: the Wynwood Doors, and the Wynwood Gardens. This mecca of walls and doors comprises some of the best street art from around the world. And from the best artists around the world. Maybe unprepared was the best way to discover it that Sunday afternoon I spent there with my son (and altogether great guy for taking me). I was a child that is suddenly deposited, with no expectations, into a land of wonder. This was Miami and the Wynwood Walls.
Do you know how it is to spend two, three hours (How long was it?) with the eye and body moving from one amazing creation to the next? I was unaware of time or the space I was in. At what point did I realize I was ignoring that I was hot, I was sticky and I was in dire need of a drink with lots of ice in it.
I went from one art piece to the next. So I wasn’t aware that I was actually passing through different sections. There are the Wynwood Walls, the Wynwood Doors, Wynwood Gardens and the work referred to as Outside the Wynwood Walls.
All of Windwood is a fun place to be, a festive atmosphere, great restaurants, shops and night life. But the real beauty of being among the Wynwood Walls is in the seeing. And it is always evolving and changing. So rather than go on in long descriptions, I have given you several of the photographs I took while there. And again, the beauty is in the seeing. If you visit Miami, do yourself a favor. Take yourself to the Wynwood Walls.
