Division Street is a Portland Neighborhood where we decided to spend a day exploring. It was a hard decision as there are so many fun and interesting neighborhoods that make Portland what it is. And there are several that I feel a particular fondness for. We somehow all agreed on Division. I have been in all of Portland’s neighborhoods, driven through many times or stopped with one particular goal. Maybe the goal was a restaurant of maybe I was visiting a friend who lived there. But now I was giving myself time to walk the streets with no agenda, no time constraints. This was bound to be a real treat!.
This is the number one point about my favorite neighborhoods, and even my not so favorites. The people who lived there (or new people that moved in) didn’t bulldoze the homes and buildings. They repaired, revitalized, improved what was already there. It is definitely part of the allure and character that makes Portland a special place to visit.
We parked on a street, which could have been any side street in the area, where we found a space. Walking through side streets (and sometimes peaking in windows) was part of the fun.
Coffee
First stop when coming out onto Division Street was to find coffee. Finding coffee…Never a problem in Portland.
Shopping
Then we were on to no rush shopping….the best kind. We each treated ourselves this morning. My purchase was a pair of earrings that pick up the light and shine with movement.
Lunch
We had no plans for lunch so did some looking around. Although we didn’t go into PDX Sliders, I was interested to see their website later. I need to go back some day for their sandwiches! https://pdxsliders.com/.
We ended up going to Pok Pok. All the plates were delicious: the chicken perfectly moist. There is a part of the restaurant that is inside. We chose to sit outside in one of their breezy, covered areas.
Note: Sad, but Pok Pok closed during 2020 due to Covid, I presume. But I am leaving this part of my post intact in case they do open again.
Last Stop...Wine
Last stop was a store/bar area with the best of Oregon’s wine. I treated myself to a bottle of Pinot Gris that I later fit in my suitcase and brought home.
So Thank You, Division Street, a Portland Neighborhood that showed us a good time. And if you are visiting Portland, take the time to venture out to the neighborhoods. You can read my post about the neighborhood of Alberta Street here: https://roadtosuchness.comalberta-street-pdx-neighborhoods/
