I don’t remember what kind of food we had in mind that brought us to this neighborhood enclave of three-in-one-dining. But options there were! We discovered three restaurants, set side by side like siblings of the same family, but each with a distinct personality. They are nestled in a laid-back garden atmosphere that is part of a neighborhood artist’s community. The restaurant The Alchemist offers open-faced sandwiches called “slicers” plus gluten free desserts. Voo LaVoooffers French crepes, both sweet and savory. La Mexicana is a taco bar offering tacos and other Mexican dishes. An interesting addition: La Mexicana also gives cooking classes.
The restaurants in this three-in-one-dining setting seem to share their colorful space amicably. This is a place for a cup of coffee, a complete meal, and no rush conversation.
The Alchemist
The Alchemist is the only one of the three restaurants that I didn’t get to enjoy on my trip to Ft. Lauderdale. So there is always a reason to come back. This is the place for open-faced sandwiches served on Tuscan bread called Slicers. https://www.thealchemist.cafe/wilton-manors/
Voo La Voo
The first time we tried this three-in-one-dining experience we settled on Voo La Voo. I love crepes! That said, I usually don’t often look for a place especially for crepes. But I am so glad on this morning we did. I ordered a sweet crepe with berries, English custard and berry coulis. What a treat! It was good enough to make me go back for more next time I am in town. I am looking at their menu right now. Savory Crepe featuring smoked salmon in lemon chive creme sauce! https://www.voolavoocafe.com
La Mexicana
We ate at La Mexicana on my last day in Ft. Lauderdale. This was an unusual choice for me, since I live in the Southwest and usually eat everything but Mexican or Southwest food when I am traveling. It is what we tend to order when I am home. but for this breakfast I ordered huevos rancheros. Not too spicy hot. They were good. https://www.lamexicana.online/
